Driving a car is a single act but can be done with different mindsets. There are drivers who take it as a mere act of necessity, some others as duty, while a section of people are there who drive simply because of the thrill and excitement.  From that perspective, even the cars can be aligned and categorized into the practical, luxurious and thrilling ones. Taking the example of the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox, we just wanted to check what the drivers of the Smithfield Chevrolet dealer might have to say about this crossover from Chevrolet.

With the rising trend of crossover SUVs replacing the dominant position of the sedans, the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox fortunately got its platform to stand out firstly for its surprisingly wide lineup that offers all the Chevrolet shoppers with a freedom of choosing from two capacitive gas engines, and a fuel returning turbodiesel engine, from the configurations of front- or all-wheel drive, and all these got wisely distributed among the four trim levels of the lineup.

So the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox is still available as L, LS, LT and Premier trim levels, with several feature packages and powertrain options.

The 2019 Model Year Specials

The 2019 Chevrolet Equinox recently had a makeover last year, after which Chevrolet didn’t find it reasonable to redesign the already good looking crossover and focused on updating only a few aspects that included the new software with the 7.0- and 8.0-inch options of touchscreens display and an added availability of the HD rearview camera.

Powertrain Options

Under its hood, the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox offers a 1.5-liter turbo-4 engine as standard that is capable of making a 170 unit of horsepower when paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Two other engine options are optionally available on LT and Premier trims that include a 2.0-liter turbo-4 engine which is rated at 252 hp and is hooked up to a 9-speed automatic transmission, and a 1.6-liter turbodiesel 4-cylinder engine in combination with a 6-speed automatic transmission only to make  a horsepower of 137 hp. But probably Chevrolet wanted a model to make the budget shoppers happy with the decent fuel return of 39 mpg on the highway as rated by the EPA. Most of the trim levels of the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox are made available with either front- or all-wheel drive.

What do the Drivers Say

All the drivers we spoke to at the Smithfield Chevrolet dealership agreed with a pleasant mood that every trim of the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox drives well. While it keeps the cabin in decent isolation from all the road drudgery, to provide a comfortable ride, the but even the 252-hp engine is pleasant to drive and is more practical in approach than making any thrilling movements.

What they added on the positive side is that, driving any 2019 Equinox will relieve the drivers from most of the driving hazards, as the infotainment section integrated with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto free them from the smartphone handling, while the pedestrian alert on the high trim levels alert them before any errant pedestrian tend to bump on them.
